Gerald Chipeur provides opinion for Senate Committee on constitutionality of Bill S-230

On December 1, 2016, Gerald Chipeur, QC testified before the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Senate in Bill S-230, An act to amend the Criminal Code (drug-impaired driving).

The Senate of Canada is considering legislation to authorize oral fluid test devices to assist police in addressing drug-impaired driving. This issue is expected to become more important for law enforcement in light of plans for the introduction of legislation to legalize marihuana in the spring of 2017.
